My Pleasure

Two words we don't hear often enough. My pleasure. In a world that is so self focused, we don't take the time to ensure someone Else's delight.
This afternoon, I was doing something that everyone should  do on a Sunday afternoon.......I was napping. I was so cozily snuggled under the comforter, with my heating blanket on, warm and toasty and drifting somewhere between reality and slumber. I vaguely felt Ruby leave the bed.....the little bell at her neck signalling her departure. (I do have little stairs at the end of the bed....after all she is only 4lbs.)  I did not move. A few minutes later, I heard her come back, and in struggle to carry one of her toys up the stairs and into bed, she dropped it, and it rolled under the bed. (Ruby is afraid of under the bed) And so, somewhere in my zombie like state, I heard her start to did not break my heart.
I knew that in order for her to stop whimpering, I would have to get up and rescue the toy in question. I struggled with that I lay there....did I mention cozy warm? Eventually, I got up and grabbed the toy, throwing it into bed for her. I took no pleasure in the experience.
Later today, I had to go to the store, and when there went in search of some flyer items. Finally, I asked a young girl, who directed me to the correct location.....I thanked her and she responded, "My Pleasure."
It kinda shocked me. You don't really hear that any more.
It reminded me of a sermon I heard recently.....about God's love for us. How he takes pleasure in us. So often I think that it is a burden for Him to forgive me, and every time I screw up.....He rolls His eyes....sighs and exasperated sigh....and says....."Again? Sheesh. Alright."
But that is not the case at all. He takes pleasure in us......He delights in my mom so often points out...."He sits by your bed and waits for you to wake up.....He can hardly wait to spend the day with you."
So as you move on throughout this day, remember this:

Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."
