Risk Fully

I am sitting here, supposed to be writing my speech for the fundraiser next week. Instead, I've been staring out the window at the 711....people watching.
Been talking to a friend this morning....she said something that has really struck me. Risk fully.

Risk fully. What does that mean, to risk fully? I think some of us think that we already do, but do we? We go about our lives, living for God, and yet still remain somewhat safe, in our environment. Maybe there is reason for our safety net. If you are reading this, I am guessing that you are probably an adult...and so, you've lived long enough to have been hurt. Maybe through a relationship, maybe through death, or maybe even through misunderstanding.....bottom line, you've been hurt, and therefore, you will do everything in your power to avoid anything that resembles that situation....not a bad move at all.
But do we limit God from moving and working, when we hold on tightly to the safety net?
Think about some of those who've gone before us.
What about Daniel, in the fire.....risked fully.
Esther when talking to the king.....risked fully.
When Joseph took pregnant Mary to be his wife...risked fully.
When Rebecca went with a stranger, to be someone Else's husband (another stranger)...risked fully.
When Abraham laid his son on the altar.....the one whom through his offspring would be reckoned......risked fully.
Hebrews 11 states that Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead......and so....he risked fully.
Jim Elliot, when called to be a missionary to the Alca's...and was later massacred by them....risked fully.
Cory and Jackie, who were encouraged to abort Marshall, because he was not growing properly and would die at birth, but lived for thirteen minutes.......risked fully.
I guess that we cannot know what the future will hold...but as the song says....."we know who holds the future."
And so, there may be pain, but there may be joy.....there may be loss, but there may be incredible gain, or opportunities.........if you risk fully.
