The Phone Call

Its just after 9 am, and I am laying here in bed in northern Saskatchewan, beside one of my dearest friends. It was an unexpected, yet much needed trip.

The Phone Call that changed her life forever, came in the early afternoon yesterday. We were sitting at the Centre together, talking about the goodness of God, talking about how God has been growing her, and teaching her and loving her.
When she had first come to the Centre that afternoon, she mentioned something about how some guy she didnt know, facebooked her his condolences regarding her mother's death. How dumb.

And so, we sat, laughing and excited about God's grace, when the call came. And her life was forever changed by that call. It was almost slow motion watching her body start to crumble to the floor, and try and get myself underneath her, to ease her way down. And there we sat/ lay as the tears and disbelief surrounded us in the room. Her mom had been killed in a freak accident.

Nothing on this earth ever prepares you for that moment. And nothing will ever be the same again. Now there will only be a new normal.

"Yet this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope, because of the Lords great love, we are not consumed. For His compassion's never fail. Great is thy faithfulness. So I say to myself, the Lord is my portion. Therefore I will wait on Him." Lamentations 3:22-23

And so we took her home. Home to her father's house, where a godly man is comforting his children, and a godly step mom is holding the daughter of her heart, in her arms, comforting her loss.

Caitlin is laying beside me, reading as I write, and we would ask that you would pray for her, and her brother Patrick, her sisters Emilie and Julianna, and their families, as they move towards the future, forever changed.

  1. My prayers are with your friend as she is facing such a difficult time in her life. One thing I know, is that God is faithful and He will see her through. Until then, as members of the family of a great God, we can only offer our prayers to lift her up and support her during this loss.
