Step into the Water.....wade down a little bit deeper.

There is this old song from like the 70's or 80's that starts that way.....it played in my mind yesterday.
Yesterday I made a 4 hour trek to do something I have never done before.

Yesterday, I baptized my best friend.
She has been a programs director at a camp all summer. It was the camp of her youth, and very significant, because it was there, she met God.

I met her years later. She was my employee. She asked me about church one day, and then proceeded to start attending with me. Another step in her faith. She grew and changed, and it was cool to see, and one day she confessed to me, her boss, that she was planning on leaving her job to go on missions. And so, I wrote a reference for her and was blessed by her change.

We used to joke...that I would baptize her at her camp....and yesterday that became a reality.
Now, I know some of you are good at baptizing, used to it, and so you can focus on the importance of the moment. But me, not so much. I was more focused on not dropping her. I said what I was supposed to say, and we waded out deep (like I was told to do) and baptized her in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It was only afterwards, as she grabbed me, sobbing and soaking, and wouldn't let go....and I looked into her eyes.....that I realized.........she was a new creation. The old is gone, the new has come.

This is an amazing woman of God.
