Who Am I

There is a song that bodes the question, "Who Am I, that the Lord of all the earth, would care to know my name, would care to know my hurts?"
I've been pondering that question these past days. What makes us who we are. What initiates our personalities. Parents? Friends? Environment? God?
Why, at times do we change our personalities, depending on who we are with. When we meet someone new, sometimes we become someone else, someone we perceive to be more likeable. Or, when we are with someone we know well, we feel justified in becoming a not-so-nice person, because we are just "being ourselves."

We all have parts of ourselves that are not attractive. How do we change them, and even before change, how do we recognize these behaviours, in order to change. We all have people in our lives that are more than happy to point out our short comings. Is that helpful, can we glean from their words, or, is it just another hurt to heap on the junk we already carry. Or, as a friend, do you just realize the reasons behind the behaviour, and choose to love unconditionally. If loving unconditionally, ignoring the problem, or, is it gently working towards a solution.
Where is the balance.
Anyway, the song ends, "I am Yours."
Enough said.
