Johanna.

It was about 14 years ago that I moved into my brothers home, about 2000 miles away from where we grew up.
He had three toddlers then, and it was a most amazing experience to live with these three little lives. I was the youngest in our family, and so it was a new experience for me.
One particular evening I was getting ready to go out on a date. I was putting my make up on and fluffing my hair in the latest 90's fashion in the bathroom. My eldest niece then about three, was sitting on the toilet, her long legs dangling off, reading a book and "pooping." She always took a long time to do that.
She watched me for a while, and then smiled and encouraging smile. "Auntie Robyn," she said," YOU LOOK SHARP!!"
"Thank you Johanna."
Then a pause....a turn of the page in her book.....
"Auntie Robyn...........What does sharp mean?"

Bless her heart. This past weekend, she graduated from high school...and today she left on a five week course to learn French in Winnipeg....the place where we once lived together.....and it brings me back, to the little girl who was afraid of puppies and kitty's and had me wrapped around her little finger.
