Beer Gardens

Today I spent the day with my friend Tracy. Now, Tracy and I have been friends for about six years, and there are lots of differences between us. Tracy is (or was) the ultimate small town party girl, and I the mennonite church girl, we had little in common, but friends we became and friends we remain. It has taken me all of those six years to explain to Tracy that I am ony interested in dating someone who shares my faith. (Christianity, not Mennonite)......I think she finally gets it....or at least accepts it.
The other day Tracy called and asked me a favor....if I would be willing to help her at the beer gardens for the Women's Junior Softball Nationals today. Now normally this is not something I would do, but she needed help, and I was free; so I went.
It wasn't a busy day, it being the middle of the day on Tuesday, we did not sell a lot of drinks, but we did sell a few and made a few friends as well......one being the photographer sent to do team photos.
At one point in the afternoon, when we had a few customers, I let Tracy handle the crowd, and I said to the photographer, "Isn't she a moron, asking me a non-drinking mennonite girl to come along and help her at the beer gardens...."
He smiled and laughed and ackowledged theat he too had been raised mennonite.
Later, when I mentioned this to Tracy, she just cussed and yelled " YOU GO TO CHURCH ALL THE TIME, AND YOU DON'T MEET ANY MENNONITE GUYS, BUT YOU GO TO A BEER GARDEN FOR ONE DAY, AND YOU MEET ONE!!! YOU GOTTA CHANGE YOUR STRATEGY!"
...........ah, the ironies of life..................
